Ponsonby Recreation Club gears up for the 2017 season

The Ponsonby Recreation Club will be hosting their Annual General Meeting on  Jan. 23 at 7:30pm at the  Obergans.

The park is run by a dedicated group of volunteers striving to provide a venue for minor softball, ball leagues, picnics and ball tournaments for the community at large.

The club is looking for new members and coaches to continue with the more than 40-year tradition in providing softball for the community. Last year was a busy season for the club with registration of 145 players ranging from t-ball to squirt girls and boys teams. The club is looking to expand the girls and boys teams in 2017.

The men’s team, Ponsonby Sting, played out of the South Perth Fastball League, had another successful year.

The club’s focus this year will be raising funds to replace the aging lights on A diamond.

Season kickoff will be a three-day mixed 3-pitch fundraising tournament from May 26 to 28. For information about registering to enter a team or to donate please contact the club.

Minor ball registration starts (mail in) Feb. 1. See ponsonbysoftball.ca for details.  In person registration will be Feb. 16 from 6 to 8pm at the Elora Community Centre. For more information contact Shirley at obergan3@gmail.com.
