Police charge man with sexually assaulting passengers while posing as rideshare driver

FERGUS – Police have now charged a man with sexually assaulting two passengers while posing as a rideshare driver earlier this year.

Wellington County OPP officials say the incident occurred on Jan. 29 at about 1:15am.

“The victims were waiting for their rideshare at an establishment on Woodlawn Road West, Guelph, when the suspect identified himself as their rideshare driver,” police stated in a May 18 press release.

“The victims left with the driver and were sexually assaulted.”

At the time of the incident police stated there was one victim, but the May 18 update indicates there were two victims.

Hanif Yousuf, 29, of Guelph, was charged with two counts of sexual assault.

He is to appear in Guelph court on July 14.
