Plan released to address homelessness, housing issues
Framework focuses on prevention, improving emergency responses, supporting long-term stability/wellbeing
WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Wellington-Guelph Health and Housing Community Planning Table has released a new community plan aimed at improving coordination between health and housing services to address homelessness and housing instability.
The planning table, established in 2024, includes representatives from the health, housing, social services and non-profit sectors, as well as municipalities, Indigenous communities and people with lived experience.
The Wellington-Guelph Health and Housing Community Plan outlines a shared framework focused on homelessness prevention, improving emergency responses and supporting long-term housing stability and wellbeing.
The plan builds on priorities identified during a 2024 Health and Housing Symposium that brought together service providers, community members, Indigenous partners, elected officials and people with lived experience to identify challenges and opportunities for action.
Co-chairs Luisa Artuso and Emmi Perkins stated in a news release the plan strengthens collaboration across sectors and provides a foundation for coordinated efforts to address health and housing challenges throughout Wellington County and Guelph.
