Wellington North treasurer Paul Dowber has resigned effective Dec. 31.

The township announced his resignation in a press release on Dec. 10.

Mayor Andy Lennox said Dowber will be missed.

“He had family in the area that he’s moving to and his parents are getting a little older and he wants to be near family to look after those types of issues,” Lennox told the Advertiser.

Dowber started in Wellington North in March 2014, taking over from Michael Givens, who was promoted to CAO.  Lennox said he does not think Dowber’s loss will impact the budget process.

“He’s got the budget process well on the way… he hopes most of the work will be done on it (during the next meeting),” he said.

The mayor said he was unsure about who would take over as interim treasurer, adding there may be candidates from the last year’s hiring process “that may be able to help.”
