Museum and Archives offers summer programs for families, visitors

For the 10th season, the Wellington County Museum and Archives is hosting a weekly series of eclectic activities for families and visitors in the county.

Each Wednesday afternoon in July and August, from 1 to 4pm, a themed activity or presentation will take place.

All programs are appropriate for families and adults of all ages. Some afternoons require registration and a small fee, all others are drop-in format and by donation.

Highlights include:

July 28

Magic in the Barn (presentation starts at 1:30pm) with Wilber the Magician.

August 10

Following the established tradition, the museum is hosting a “Mind your Manners Tea Party” on Aug. 10 with an etiquette expert. The sessions cost $15 per person.

This will be a manners refresher for adults and an introduction for young people in attendance, who will receive a certificate at the end.

Hats and gloves are always recommended.

July 21 and August 31

Two exhibit-based afternoons include the July 21 My Little Pony Spa afternoon and the Aug. 31 John Deere Tractor DAZE!  Check out the museum website at www.wellington.ca/museum for full details.

Outdoor concert series

This year the museum has expanded the outdoor concert series to include six evenings in July and August, beginning July 7.  Concerts will take place on the grounds of the museum or in the 1877 barn.  This year offers an even greater range of entertainment from folk to jazz to bagpipes and contemporary guitar.
