MOOREFIELD – Mapleton Safe Kids Day was hosted by the Moorefield Optimists on June 20 at their hall and outdoor rink, in partnership with Safe Communities Mapleton.
Optimist Club president, Ryan Campbell, reported that 58 kids registered for the bike rodeo, and confirmed that this is the 57th year for the event. Other activities included hands-on learning stations designed to empower children with the practical knowledge to help keep them safe.
Mapleton Fire Rescue, Farm Safety, Wellington County OPP, Guelph Wellington Paramedics, Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington, Safe Communities Wellington County and the Grand River Conservation Authority joined forces to provide an interactive community experience that provided children and their families a unique opportunity to learn lifesaving skills in a fun and memorable way.
Ice cream was provided by the Moorefield Diner to kids who shared a safety tip.
