Owners terminate plans for Glen Allan subdivision

MAPLETON – Plans will not be moving forward for an 11-house subdivision in Glen Allan. 

The owners of the two-hectare (five-acre) lot in the hamlet’s southwest corner intended to build 11 detached homes, a storm water management block and a park.

When Mapleton held a public meeting about the plan at the Maryborough Community Centre in 2021, concerns about traffic volume, parkland designation and sidewalks were raised, but at that time township planner Linda Redmond said “for the most part there are no major objections to it.”  

Owners Boomer Creek Inc’s draft plan for the subdivision was approved in November, 2022. 

And in May 2024, the owners severed the vacant two-hectare lot from a 29-hectare (72-acre) farm in order to proceed with the subdivision.  

But last month, the owners contacted the county to withdraw the plan. 

“After careful consideration, we have decided not to proceed with the proposed subdivision,” the owners stated in an Aug. 5 letter to county planner Curtis Marshall.
