Minor Bantam AE playoffs

Well it’s not the way the Centre Wellington Fusion Minor Bantam AE team expected the playoff series against Orangeville to go. With only three losses all season the Fusion didn’t see two straight losses coming.

On Feb. 10, the Fusion hosted Orangeville in the first game of the series. Orangeville came out flying, scoring four unanswered goals. The Fusion was able to finally get on the board late in the third period but it was too little too late and the game ended 4-2.

Game two of the series didn’t go the Fusion’s way as they found themselves once again down by three goals before they were able to capitalize with a goal of their own. The game ended in a 4-1 loss. Points for  the Fusion came from Carter Hyndman (1G) with Koen Ashdown getting the assist.

The Fusion hosted game three in a do-or-die situation and they played just like it. Fusion came out body checking and taking control of the game before Orangeville knew what hit them. The Fusion took the lead early but Orangeville answered right back.

In the second period, The Fusion scored three big goals to take a commanding 4-1 lead. Orangeville scored three goals to tie the game, sending it into overtime.

With three minutes left in overtime, Ty Needham hit mesh, giving the Fusion their first much needed win, 5-4.
