Millburn Splash Pad opening allows kids to get wet in Fergus

Even before the  new Millburn Splash Pad officially opened here on June 18, the facility was already making waves with local kids.

Centre Wellington’s managing director of community services Brian Drexler said the pad was an exciting project to see completed.

“We were teased all last summer as it was being built and this summer it is ready to be used,” he said.

Drexler thanked all those involved for their hard work on the project, as well as numerous members of the community.

“It’s great to see you here to celebrate this opening.”

Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj said “to the boys and girls of the community – we hope you have lots of fun in this little park because that’s what it’s here for.” She said when the hot days come and school is out, the kids will love having the park in the area.

Ross-Zuj said the recreation committee has a master plan which is enormous in scope.

“Every time we reach one of those milestones, it is so exciting because it is a massive overall project to meet the community needs,” said Ross-Zuj.

Drexler added there is more work yet to happen at the park.

He said the Fergus Elora Rotary Foundation has offered to purchase accessible picnic tables for the park.

“That is what is great about this community, how it continually steps up to the plate. It’s just fantastic,” said Drexler.
