Matusinec joins race for Ward 3 council seat
Eight candidates are now vying for a spot on Wellington North council.
John Matusinec recently joined Jens Dam, Ross Chaulk, Gerald (Shep) Shepetunko, Stephen O’Neill, Lisa Hern, David Culp and Clifford Heffernan in the Ward 3 byelection race.
Matusinec, a former councillor for Wellington North and the Village of Arthur prior to amalgamation, lost to current councillor Steve McCabe in the Ward 4 race in the 2014 municipal election.
Nominations end on Oct. 2 and the final list of candidates will be available on Oct. 5.
The township has posted on its website an instructional video on the vote-by-mail system that will be used during the byelection.
The township is holding an information session on Sept. 24 from 7 to 8:30pm for all candidates and electors. At the meeting officials will provide information on key dates, responsibilities and the vote-by-mail process and they will answer questions.
