Local NLL players re-sign to Toronto

Forward Kasey Beirnes, of Elora, and defenceman Rob Marshall, of Arthur, have re-signed to one-year contracts with the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League, the team announced July 29.

Beirnes has played for the Rock for nine years, scoring 29 goals in 17 games in 2016, and Marshall has played for 11 years.

“(Beirnes) has been an integral part of this team for a long time,” said owner, president and general manager Jamie Dawick, in a release. “(Marshall) is a real fan-favourite because he lays it all on the line every night,”  he added.
