Local doctor volunteers for Pan Am Games

A local chiropractor has been chosen to be one of the medical practitioners during the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto.

Dr. Phil Lemire from Optimum Integrative Health Centre in Fergus will be one of 130 volunteer chiropractors working at the games.

“I definitely have a special interest in Sports,” said Lemire, speaking about the injuries he has seen in his practice.

Lemire will be working during the soccer events, which begin on July 11.

“I’m excited just to take in the whole atmosphere, from the people I’ll be working with to the athletes from around the world,” he said.

Lemire added that a challenge he is looking forward to facing will be the language barriers between him and the athletes.

He added, “It’s not an opportunity that comes around every day or every year.”

Canada’s first soccer game is July 11 and features the women’s team facing off against Ecuador. The men start July 12 against Brazil.
