I Like Mike campaign announces $20,000 fundraising matching total

Jim Phillips has upped the ante on his I Like Mike Campaign.

The fundraiser for LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society in Hillsburgh highlights the thoroughbred’s versatility and athletic ability through the journey of Phillips’ own retired racehorse, Mike.

A sales topping full brother to Champion Pender Harbour, Mike won his first start but his true calling appears to be in the show ring.

Mike will be on his way to the Retired Racehorse Project’s Thoroughbred Makeover being held at the Kentucky Horse Park early October.

I Like Mike

Phillips will be fundraising for LongRun through the “I Like Mike” campaign and will also match any donations made in Mike’s name up to $20,000.

His original plan was to match donations up to $15,000.

All funds raised will go to LongRun and tax receipts will be issued for any donations received.

To donate visit ilikemikehorse.wordpress.com or call   the LongRun office at 416-675-3993 ext. 1-3440.

Background

LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society cares for retired thoroughbreds on its central farm in Hillsburgh.

The horses are donated by owners and trainers who would like to see them go on to a loving, adoptive home and possibly a second career as a riding or show horse.
