Firefighter demonstrations Sept. 12

Erin Fire and Emergency Services is hosting its annual Manufacturers’ Night on Sept. 12.

Manufacturers’ Night was started over 31 years ago by members of the Hillsburgh Fire Department.

Rick Adamson was instrumental in organizing the event up until his passing three and a half years ago.

This year organizers have 30 confirmed vendors, with everything from T-shirts and memorabilia to the latest in fire safety gear and equipment.

Local fire departments will be displaying fire trucks, including Centre Wellington with its brand new state-of- the art heavy rescue.

Erin fire service will have several demonstrations, including an airbag demonstration at about 7pm.

Following that, one of the suppliers (Code 4) will demonstrate the newest technology in auto extrication tools and cut apart a vehicle to simulate a patient trapped inside.

The event will be held from 6 to 10pm at the Erin Agricultural Society building, 184 Main Street in Erin.
