Expert to talk about plant choices at Heritage River

As gardeners head into the new year, they often reflect, remembering successes of the past growing season as well as the not-so-greats that may have graced their gardens.

For them, January and February, after the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, is the perfect time to search eagerly through the seed catalogues and dream about the bumper crops they will have in 2011 – and the colourful gardenscapes they will create. They also pour through landscape book after landscape book, wondering how they could apply those interesting ideas to their own properties.

The Elora and Salem Horticultural Society understands those yearnings and has planned a couple of events for February – for all levels of gardeners, beginners to experts – to help channel their daydreams and thoughts.   On Feb. 23 at 7:30pm at Heritage River Retirement Community, 25 Wellington Drive, Elora, Linda Wideman, landscape designer, grower, and plant purchaser from St. Jacob’s Country Garden will discuss Utilizing Plant Choices in Your Garden.  Wideman is well qualified on this and many other topics and has a vast amount of knowledge to share.
