From April 23 to 29, East Wellington Community Services will celebrate Canada’s 12.7 million volunteers during National Volunteer Week (NVW).

This year marks the 14th year Volunteer Canada has delivered the campaign in partnership with Investors Group, a longstanding supporter of NVW.

East Wellington Community Services has approximately 145 dedicated volunteers who help to carry out programs and services.

EWCS volunteers fundraise at its clothing stores, bookstore, golf tournament and other events.  Volunteers also assist at the adult day program, food bank and children’s programs; they drive people to appointments and provide information and referral services at the reception area.

During the month of April EWCS is incorporating Volunteer Canada’s crossword theme by asking volunteers to complete a crossword filled with agency clues, offering an informational agency bus tour, and providing a token of appreciation for each volunteer.

“Our work in the community would not be possible without the ongoing support of EWCS volunteers,” officials say
