Town council approved the hiring of two new Erin staff members during a closed meeting on Dec. 1.

Both new hires will start Jan. 1.

Carol House will be taking over the chief building official (CBO) position from Andrew Hartholt, who resigned on Nov. 3.

House is currently a building inspector for Guelph-Eramosa and will be shared with that township until her position there is filled, said Mayor Allan Alls.

Micheal Tapp will be starting in a new position as system administrator, an IT position that will help the town upgrade its records.

“We’re way behind in our IT here, (Tapp will) basically help the staff update stuff, we have a lot of records that we need to get digitized, you name it - he’ll be busy,” said Alls.

Tapp has been hired on a one-year contract.
