DICKIESON, Gord
Gordon Richard Dickieson of Palmerston passed away peacefully at Palmerston Hospital on Friday, May 1, 2026, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of the late Margie (Brydon) Dickieson, his soulmate, who passed away on December 29, 2025. Their love was inseparable in life, and now again in rest. Father of Raymond & Darlene Dickieson of Palmerston, and Adam & Denise Dickieson of Elmira, and grandfather of Jordan Dickieson & Hannah Weiler and Brydon Dickieson & Kalvin Arjune. Brother of Larry & Mary Dickieson of Palmerston, Rob Dickieson of Ingersol, and brother-in-law of Ross Clarkson of Guelph. Loved also by many cherished nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. Predeceased by his parents George & Elsie (Quarrie) Dickieson. Gord was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was a steady, calm, and deeply respectful man whose quiet curiosity shaped the way he approached life. Farming was not just his work, it was his passion. He cared for the land and his livestock with a sense of responsibility and pride, always ensuring his family was provided for and the farm was tended with integrity. Gord graduated from the University of Guelph’s, Ontario Agricultural College in the class of 65’A. He started farming in Minto Township in 1974 with the purchase of the family farm. He supported agriculture in the community through his long involvement with the Harriston Fall Fair Board and as a dedicated 4‑H leader. Family, both immediate and extended, meant everything to him. Over the years, he formed many lifelong friendships, built on shared memories, easy laughter, and genuine interest in the lives of others. Gord, like Margie, had a gift for making people feel welcomed, and he cherished every visit, conversation, and connection just as she did. Although his dream was to spend his final days on the farm he loved, Gord passed away less than two months after leaving it. Even in his short time at Royal Terrace, he formed meaningful new friendships, taking the same sincere interest in others that he always had. His gentle presence, his love for the land, and his devotion to family and friends will be remembered with deep affection. Visitation will be held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston, on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church, Harriston on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 11:00am with reception to follow. The service will be live-streamed and the link available on the funeral home website. Interment in Harriston Cemetery. Memorial donations to Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church, Harriston, or the Canadian Foodgrains Bank would be appreciated. Online condolences at www.hardyleefuneralhome.com
