Community cleanups in Clifford, Harriston

Community clean ups are planned in Clifford and Harriston for May 6.

The Clifford and District Horticultural Society rescheduled its earlier cleanup to May 6 and plan to pick up garbage along streets and tidy parks.

A barbecue will follow the clean up.

This clean up event is designed as a team effort, but if anyone chooses to tackle a street or park on their own they are asked to leave Bonnie a message at 519-327-8612. So far, Brown Street north and south, William Street north and south, and Geddes Street west and east have been scoured.

Participants are invited to meet at 10am at the Rotary Pavilion Park. Safety vests and gloves will be available, and participants are advised to dress for the weather.

This annual event continues to be sponsored by the Town of Minto and the Clifford and District Horticultural Society.

The Rotarian duck race and Arbour Day tree planting day ‘Trees and Quackers’ will be held on April 29.

Harriston

The Norwell District High School Community Environmental Leadership Program (CELP) and the Harriston Trail Association are planning a community cleanup event on May 6.

The event will begin at the IODE Park gazebo on John Street (across from the medical centre) in Harriston at 10am.

All members of the community are invited to meet at the park to participate in the cleanup.

The Town of Minto will once again be supporting the event by hosting a barbecue lunch for volunteers following the cleanup.
