CMHA creates mental health services website for health care workers

'We know that our healthcare workers are going to be facing exceptional challenges in the coming weeks': Fishburn

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The local chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) has created a new website to help frontline health care workers cope during the COVID-19 crisis.

On April 14, CMHA Waterloo Wellington announced “Here4Healthcare,” which will provide free, immediate mental health care and was created in partnership with other support services.

“We know that our healthcare workers are going to be facing exceptional challenges in the coming weeks,” stated Helen Fishburn, executive director of CMHA WW.

“We built this online resource and are offering specialized services specifically for front line healthcare because of the unique nature of the stress they are facing.”

The pathway prioritizes health care workers and links them to free psychiatry, psychotherapy, support groups and online virtual care and resources.

The here4healthcare.ca website, which officials say is “the front door to care,” is available anytime.

“We moved quickly to be able to redeploy our staff and the resources of our partners to have this up and running in anticipation of a large need,” stated Fishburn.

“There is no wait to access care if you are on the front lines of COVID-19 and need support.”

CMHA WW created the site with collaboration from various partners, including the Counselling Collaborative of Waterloo Region, Family Counselling and Support Services for Guelph-Wellington and other public and private providers.
