Centre Wellington gets $646,346 for bridge replacement

Centre Wellington is getting up to $646,346 to replace the 27-WG bridge on Sideroad 20 between 5th and 6th Line.

The bridge is scheduled for replacement this year.

The funds are through OCIF (Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund) Intake 3 as part of a provincial investment to boost economic growth and create jobs in rural communities.

The funding was part of an announcement made on April 10 by Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Jeff Leal.

Centre Wellington is one of 55 communities that will receive support from the province through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) to build and upgrade local infrastructure.

OCIF supports projects in municipalities with a population of less than 100,000 as of the 2011 census, as well as municipalities that are located in northern or rural Ontario.

Other 2017 bridge replacements in the West Garafraxa portion of Centre Wellington include Bridge 32-WG (3rd Line north of Sideroad 20) and Bridge 9-WG (7th Line north of Sideroad 20).
