CELP students coordinate local Earth Day clean-up

Community members are invited to join local high school students in an Earth Day cleanup of trails and parks here on May 7.

Students from the Norwell District Secondary School Community Environmental Leadership Program (CELP) are organizing the annual clean-up and asking residents to meet at the IODE Gazebo on John Street in Harriston at 10am to help clean up local trails and parks.

“This is a rain or shine event, and will help show community pride and keep our environment clean and healthy,” states CELP student Emma McRobb in a letter to Minto council.

At the April 19 meeting, council approved a request to donate up to $100 for supplies for a barbecue for participants to take place following the clean up. Councillors also agreed to man the barbecue for the event.
