Fergus businesses hope folks will ‘Spread the Love’ for local food bank

FERGUS – Despite collecting hundreds of pounds of food over the Christmas season, the Centre Wellington Food Bank still has a need for cash and food donations as rising food costs are forcing families to its door.

Drag show goes on despite protests, threats, harassment

ELORA – Three people protesting outside didn’t dampen the mood at the “Winter’s a Drag" show at the Elora Distilling Company on Saturday night. “The show was a huge success,” said David DeWitt, who booked and emceed the event.

Council approves design for new library project in Erin

GUELPH – The top floor of a planned new library in Erin village will include potentially “one of the best rooms in the whole County of Wellington” according to the head of the architectural firm that designed it.

Handgun stolen during break-in at Erin home

ERIN – Police are looking to identify three suspects after a handgun was stolen from a home here earlier this month. Wellington County OPP officials say police received a report about a break-in on the 9th Line in Erin on Jan. 24.

Man posing as rideshare driver sexually assaults passenger: OPP

FERGUS – Police are looking to identify a man who sexually assaulted a passenger while posing as a rideshare driver. Wellington County OPP officials say the incident occurred on Jan. 29 at about 1:15am.

United Way puts out red alert, needs $200,000 to meet fundraising goal

GUELPH – The United Way of Guelph Wellington Dufferin's 2022 fundraising campaign fell short of its $2.7 million goal and that spells disaster for the 50 or so community benefit organizations that rely on United Way funding.
