Building still strong in Minto

A record-breaking year for new construction in the municipality continued though October.

To the end of October the Town of Minto issued building permits for construction valued at $22.7 million compared to $13.7 million for the same period in 2014.

The total includes $6.5 million in residential permits and $6.2 million in agricultural permits.

October active month

“It was an active month. We issued 15 permits worth $2.2 million so that’s another five new residential units and another new barn,” said chief building official Terry Kuipers of the October statistics.

Kuipers said construction values to date remain strong, and are $9 million above the municpality’s 10-year average.

“Keep building that tax base,” quipped Mayor George Bridge.
