Bowling for Hopewell

The Hopewell Children’s Homes annual Bowl-A-Thon is moving into its 15th successful year. It  will take place on Oct. 29 from 2 to 5pm at Woodlawn Bowl in Guelph.

Funds raised from the event will support new equipment and services in Hopewell’s six locations across Guelph and Wellington County.

Organizers expect at least 20 teams to compete including a team with Guelph MP, Lloyd Longfield.

Participation is open to the public right up until the event kicks off on Saturday.

Registrants can also enter to win raffle prizes and they will receive free pizza and pop for participating.

“We’re really thrilled with the enthusiasm of all our registrants,” said the Bowl-A-Thon’s volunteer chair Laurie Iversen.

“We’ll find a team for everyone who wants to bowl.”

The funds raised at the Bowl-A-Thon will go towards the development of a Snoezelen Room, a controlled multi-sensory environment that provides therapeutic support for clients.

Funds will also assist with purchasing shower bathing trolleys and power lifts for those who need them.

Teams of five as well as individual bowlers can sign up to for the Bowl-A-Thon by emailing Mark at bowlathon2016@hopewellchildrenshomes.ca.
