Barbour Field pavilion roof to be replaced

The pavilion roof at the Barbour Field Sports field complex will be replaced.
Erin council on June 16 accepted the tender to remove and replace the shingles on the pavilion at a cost of $9,625 plus HST.
There will be an additional cost to replace any rotted wood or damaged sheathing. Council had allocated $15,000 toward the project.
During the council meeting, facilities manager Graham Smith mentioned there is an ongoing civil suit against the company suppling the shingles which had been installed approximately 20 years ago.
“There is a civil suit against the company. I’m investigating that as well to see if there is any money that we can get back from the shingles that are on there,” said Smith.
Town officials are trying to locate the original bill of sale for the shingles, which is becoming a problem, but Smith said they are investigating it.
