The YMCA-YWCA of Guelph’s ENCORE (after breast cancer) program is offered free of charge to women (both members and non-members) who have experienced breast cancer or breast reconstructive surgery at any time in their lives.

The program will be offered at the YMCA-YWCA of Guelph on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8pm from Sept. 26 to Nov. 14.

ENCORE is more than an exercise program, it is a supportive environment designed to help participants get strong, both inside and out.

During this eight week program, participants will hear from guest speakers presenting seminars on everything from the science behind lymph drainage and physiotherapy to stress management and laughter yoga.

Through the wide variety of guest speakers, women will learn useful life skills such as: self-care, stress and anxiety management, nutrition guidelines, and lymphedema management.

The exercises include gentle floor and pool exercises as well as relaxation techniques that are designed to improve mobility and flexibility in the chest, arms, and shoulders while also relieving some discomforts associated with surgery.
