Writer sought for provincial art camp

Wanted: writer in campsite residence
Writers from anywhere in Ontario can apply to enjoy a full weekend in MacGregor Point provincial park as writer-in-campsite-residence for the 2008 Wild for the Arts festival.
As well as the opportunity to showcase work, the writer-in-campsite-residence will have the company of other creative people: visual artists, musicians, photographers, and other writers.
Wild for the Arts takes place Sept. 20 to 21, with a program that includes a unique campsite studio art tour, music tent, hikes, creative workshops, and storytelling. Jodi Jerome, the 2007 writer, said, "When I got the phone call in May, I was thrilled. Over the weekend, the conversations were wonderful and I met a lot of interesting people who inspired me. I stood in a pine tree-lined campsite under a chicory blue sky and marvelled at how beautiful a September weekend can be, while plotting to write it down the second I had a moment."
The chosen writer will stay in a new trailer, with all meals provided by co-sponsor, The Brucedale Press. Full use of the park’s many kilometres of hiking and biking trails and all other park facilities is part of the package, compliments of the Friends of MacGregor Point Park.
The writer will be expected to lead an activity of his own design for writers, as well as meeting the reading public at the campsite writing studio.
Applications must be received on or before February 29, 2008.
Writers can find full application details by e-mailing brucedale@bmts.com.
