Work progressing on bridge removal

The contractor has been making good progress with removals on the Tower Street Bridge.

By Feb. 26, the concrete deck on the east side of the bridge should be completely removed.

The contractor plans on setting up two large cranes on Thursday morning to remove the two structural beams on the east of the bridge.  Each beam stretches from one side of the gorge to the other spanning the river.

If all goes well with the set up of the cranes, the first of the two beams will be removed between 10am and noon, and the other after lunch.

The public is welcome to watch from a safe location while this occurs.

As the cranes and beams will take up a lot of space on Tower Street, there will not be any access to the TD Bank parking lot on Wednesday for bank staff to park.

Only construction vehicles will be allowed access to Tower Street while this part of the work is occurring.
