An elderly woman died in a London hospital two days following a serious collision at the intersection of Highway 6 and Grey Road 109, just north of Mount Forest.

On Feb. 16 at about 9:15am Grey County OPP, Mount Forest fire fighters and Grey County EMS responded to the scene.

Police say Mary Evelyn Almond, 88, of Sundridge, was driving a Dodge Caravan westbound on Grey Road 109 when it entered the intersection and collided with a southbound Toyota Corolla on Highway 6.

The 29-year-old female driver of the Toyota was not injured.

Police say Almond did not at first appear to be injured but was transported to hospital as a precaution. Grey County OPP announced at about 2pm the day of the accident that  the woman had died, but later retracted that statement, stating at 6pm she was in critical condition and being transferred to a London hospital via land ambulance.

Police announced on Feb. 18 at 10am that Almond had died in London hospital.
