Drinking and driving
HARRISTON – On April 13 at about 1pm, Wellington County OPP officers were monitoring traffic in Harriston when they pulled over a vehicle on Arthur Street West.
A 58-year-old Harriston man was charged with driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs, driving without a licence and driving with cannabis readily available.
He is to appear in Guelph court on May 22.
MORRISTON – On April 14 at about 9:30pm, Wellington County OPP officers were monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 36 when they pulled over a vehicle that police say was speeding.
“Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer suspected the driver to be impaired,” police stated in a press release.
A 31-year-old Guelph man was charged with driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs, driving with more than 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his system, performing a stunt, speeding, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and being a novice driver with a blood-alcohol level above zero.
He is to appear in Guelph court on May 26.
SHELBURNE – On April 17 at about 9:22pm, Dufferin County OPP officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Centre Street in the Town of Shelburne.
“While officers were in the area, additional information indicated the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed southbound on County Road 11 in the Township of Amaranth,” police stated in a press release. “Officers subsequently located the vehicle in the area of County Road 109 and conducted a traffic stop.”
A 29-year-old Fergus man was charged with driving over 80mg, impaired driving, dangerous driving, driving with an open container of liquor, driving without insurance and driving without a permit.
In the above incidents the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
