It could well cost more to bury people in Minto this winter.
Via a public works committee recommendation, councillors here have increased the cost for winter burials – if snow must be removed for the burial to take place.
“In the event of snow removal being required for winter burials, an additional $150 per hour surcharge.
Further winter burials would be at the discretion of the Director of Public Works.
Councillor Wayne Martin explained that there have been situations with burials where work is required to get to the plots.
“There is a cost involved in removing the snow.” The surcharge is to cover those costs, Martin said.
