WEB ONLY: Mounted Games Across Canada event held at Grand River Raceway

The Willowoods and Misfits were the champions of the day in the mounted games competition held at Grand River Raceway, in Elora, on May 31.

Cassidy and Grace Cartwright of Fergus, the Willowoods team, riding their ponies Lucky and Pixie, won the ‘A Division’, while Taylor Prank of Elora and Michelle Snetzko of Fergus, the Misfits team, riding Shadow and Shania, took home the prizes and ribbons in the ‘B Division’.

The competition, run by the Mounted Games Across Canada (MGAC) group, was well attended. Riders and ponies came from as far away as Milton and Caledon.

In spite of a chilly north wind, competitors, families and friends played two rounds of games.

The qualifying rounds were won by Lauren Bray, on Shasta, and Natalie Bray, on Kit Kat, the Deja Vu team from Milton (A Division),  and Maddy Heaton-Smith of Ariss, on Secret, and Hayley Chase of Alma, on Fergie, the Red Comets team (B Division).

The excellent facilities at Grand River Raceway are the favoured location for MGAC events.  They offer a perfectly groomed playing field, convenient access to refreshments, and lots of free parking.   Spectators are also welcome, free of charge.

The next mounted games competition on Sunday, June 21, starting at 10:30 a.m.

MGAC is a non-profit organization that promotes the sport of mounted games for riders of all ages.  For more information, visit the web site at www.mgac.org.
