Walking bridge still unresolved

The matter of the walking bridge over the Conestogo River in Arthur needs to be resolved.

The issue came up at two August recreation committee meetings in Wellington North, and again at council in September. The committee asked recreation coordinator Linda Spahr to direct a letter to the Arthur Lions Club to find out its intent for the bridge

At council, Mayor Mike Broomhead asked recreation chairman Bob Mason where the situation is at. Mason said the committee sent a letter to the Lions Club, but, as of the Sept. 13 council meeting, the committee had not has a response. He hopes a response would be in ready for the recreation committee meeting slated later in the week.

Broomhead said. “It would be nice to have it resolved before winter.”

The bridge has been unusable for over a year after a flood lifted carried one end downstream.
