United Way campaign launched on Sept. 14

United Way campaign chairman Marva Wisdom, Mayor Karen Farbridge, Wellington County Warden Chris White and United Way executive director Ken Dardano launched the United Way’s 2011 fundraising campaign on Sept. 14.

The multi-million dollar campaign raises funds for over 80 social service programs across Guelph and Wellington County. The launch celebrated the contributions of thousands of donors and volunteers who make the programs possible.

The event also saw the local launch of 2-1-1, a free, 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week telephone line providing Ontarians with information on community and social services. Locally, data for 2-1-1 is being provided by Community Information Guelph, a United Way funded program of the Volunteer Centre.

United Way of Guelph and Wellington is a volunteer driven, charitable foundation that works to meet needs in the Guelph and Wellington community through social planning, fundraising and fund distribution.
