Two people had cards stolen from Guelph gym
GUELPH – Police here are investigating after two people had their credit and debit cards stolen from a gym and later used. On Feb. 9 a Rockwood man reported having his debit and credit cards and cash stolen from his wallet, which was in a locked locker at a south-end gym.
“The cards were later used to make almost $5,200 in purchases and withdrawals,” police stated.
On Feb. 10, a Guelph woman reported she noticed cards and cash missing from her wallet the morning after attending a class at the same gym.
“She also reported her belongings were left in a locker and that she didn’t notice any damage to the lock upon her return. The cards were used to make approximately $900 in purchases before being blocked,” police stated.
Police officials say they can’t confirm the thefts are related, “but all cards were used at the same south-end businesses.” Anyone with information can call Guelph Police at 519-824-1212 or leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or csgw.tips.
