Two dead after Eden Mills house fire

Two people are dead following a house fire here on Friday.

At 8:50am on Nov. 20 Guelph-Eramosa, Puslinch and Guelph firefighters, as well as the OPP and Guelph-Wellington EMS, were called to a house fire “with people trapped” inside on Lowrie Lane in Eden Mills.

No major damage is visible from the front exterior of the house, but police said two people removed from the home were pronounced dead at a local hospital.

A police detective on the scene told the Advertiser the site is considered “a crime scene,” but OPP Constable Bob Bortolato said he could not comment on the investigation because it was “very early” in the process.

The day after the fire, police identified the deceased as Susanne McNally and Trevor McNally, both residents of the home.

Autopsies were scheduled for Nov. 22 at a Hamilton hospital to determine the cause of death.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip on-line at www.csgw.tips.

The Wellington County OPP Crime Unit and OPP criminal investigations branch are investigating the incident, along with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office.
