Twenty $5,000 scholarships awarded

Earth Day Canada recently launched its 2012 Toyota Earth Day scholarship program, providing twenty $5,000 scholarships to graduating high school students.

Students who have distinguished themselves through environmental community service, extracurricular and volunteer activities, and academic excellence are encouraged to apply by Jan. 31. Visit www.earthday.ca/scholarship for more information.

From starting school recycling programs to engaging in ground breaking scientific research, high school students are demonstrating their leadership across Canada by responding to environmental issues at local, national and global levels.

The program offers 20 regional scholarships each to high school students entering their first year of college or university in any program of study. Find more information about the program and the scholarship application at www.earthday.ca/scholarship.

To date, 140 students across Canada have been awarded with scholarships since 2003.
