Trespassing charges laid due to “˜unsafe”™ ice fishing

Two people have been charged with trespassing after they tried to ice fish on Guelph Lake during what police are calling “unsafe ice conditions.”

On March 8 at about 8:30am Wellington County OPP received a call regarding two people on the lake.

“Police responded and were able to get the attention of the fishermen,” police stated in a press release.

“They walked to the shore and two males were charged with trespassing since ice fishing is not permitted on Guelph Lake.”

The Guelph and Guelph-Eramosa fire departments were  also called to the lake in case they had to perform a rescue.
