Trans Canada Trail licence authorized

It looks like the path to another Trans Canada Trail extension is finally taking a step forward.

On Oct. 20, Centre Wellington councillors authorized the signing of an agreement for the use of Cottontail Road (directly opposite the main entrance of the Elora Gorge Conservation Area).

The licence agreement with Wellington County will facilitate the development of the Trans Canada Trail along the Cottontail Road unopened road allowance.

The Trails Master Plan which Centre Wellington has had in the works since June 2011 identifies the development and connection to the Trans Canada Trail in Centre Wellington as a prominent priority.

Wellington County has taken the lead on facilitating the development of the connection of the Trans Canada Trail along the Cottontail Road road allowance.

The trail extension would connect to the Kissing Bridge Trail between West Montrose and Ariss.
