Township council OKs festivals lease

Council here has approved an agreement between the township, the federal government and Drayton Entertainment in regards to extending a lease agreement at the Drayton?Festival Theatre.

 

The agreement, which has a term of 25 years, will take effect in a couple of years, when the current lease expires.

Mayor John Green ex­plained the idea is to ensure the government that the township, which owns the theatre, is not going to pull out of the lease now that the theatre has received hundreds of thousands of dollars in government funding for various upgrades.
