Township awards drainage work tender

Council here has awarded a tender for a municipal drain and the work is likely to start by mid-August.

Marquardt Farm Drainage Ltd. won the right to do the work on the Tinholt A drain improvement and extension. Its bid was $51,230. That was about $5,000 lower than the next bid and considerably less than the engineer’s estimate of $57,912.

Drainage engineer Tom Pridham reported to council that the tenders had been checked and that Marquardt has considerable experience in the installation of municipal tile drains under the Drainage Act.

He said the company proposes to start work on Aug. 15 and hopes, weather permitting, to complete the work by Sept. 15.

Pridham added, “The time works well with the open drain clean out to be undertaken by the township drainage superintendent downstream of the new tile installation.”
