Town of Minto celebrates second annual culture days

Minto will be celebrating a second annual Culture Day as part of a collaborative, grass roots Canada-wide movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation, and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.

Hundreds of communities across Canada are anticipated to take part in the Culture Days weekend from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.

Individual artists, diverse cultural groups, organizations, municipalities, and festivals old and new are coming together to catalyze and inspire greater participation in arts and culture by featuring free, hands-on, interactive activities.

Minto participated last year and organizers are enthusiastically awaiting this year’s event.

As the smallest municipality to ever complete and adopt a municipal cultural plan, the Minto has made it a priority to promote and support the arts and culture.

Local groups participating in Culture Days this year include: Minto Arts Council, Palmerston Railway Heritage Museum, Wildthings Plant Farm, Town of Minto Heritage Association, Wesley Bates Gallery, and West Meadow Press.

Individual artists,  and arts and cultural organizations wishing to join the movement while offering free participatory and interactive arts and cultural activities during Culture Days can visit www.culturedays.ca to register.

There is no registration fee and those who register activities will benefit from a national marketing and communications campaign as well as access to free materials and support to help promote their activities in their communities.

To view the activities that have been confirmed in Minto, visit www.culturedays.ca.
