ROCKWOOD – Police are suggesting residents ask their banks and credit card companies about possible suspicious activity after mail was stolen from several community mailboxes here.
Wellington County OPP officials say police received multiple reports of mail theft in south Rockwood on June 20.
“It was reported that several community mailboxes on Sammon Drive, Parkinson Drive and Hampson Crescent … were broken into,” police stated in a June 23 press release.
“It was determined that suspects stole items including government-issued identification and other mail.”
Police say two “persons of interest,” who arrived in a four-door compact silver car, were seen on security video approaching one of the mailboxes on June 20 at about 2am.

The driver is described as male with a thin build, short hair, wearing baggy pants and a light-coloured hoody.
The passenger is described as having short hair and wearing an orange or red shirt.
“Wellington OPP suggest that any potential victims in the area should contact police to file a report,” states the press release.
“Police recommend that victims check with their financial institutions and credit card companies for any suspicious activities.”
