The Tempest coming to Shakespeare in the Park series

The Tempest, Shakespeare’s tale of shipwrecks, sorcery and young love directed by Denise Gismondi arrives at Bissell Park as the second play in Elora Community Theatre’s (ECT) successful Shakespeare in the Park Series.

The Tempest opening Aug. 26 is ECT’s last play of the summer.

It will run Aug. 26 to 28 and Sept. 2 to 4.  Friday performances start at 7pm and performances on Saturdays and Sundays begin at 2pm and at 4pm.

Watch Bissell Park transform into a mystical island where anything can happen-and does.

The Tempest has an action packed beginning when the main character, Prospero, a duke and his tiny daughter are swept through stormy seas to an island possessed by airy and earthly spirits capable of using their powers to captivate or free the newcomers cast ashore.

The unfortunate Prospero has been robbed of his positions, power, wealth and left in isolation on the island.

Twelve years later fate brings his enemies on a collision course on this same fantastical island where nothing is as it seems.

Admission by donation after each performance.
