The Superstars Baton Club competed in St. Mary’s at the annual competition on April 26.
Approximately 75 athletes from St. Mary’s, Hamilton, Arthur, Fergus, Richmond Hill, Oshawa, Thamesford, Stratford and Kitchener gathered for the day-long competition.
The teams Mambo #5, Walking on Sunshine, Be Our Guest and Hoedown won for their performance and the teams Boogie Shoes and Cotton-Eyed-Joe took a second for their awesome performance while the team One of Us placed 3rd.
Individual Results are as follows:
– Mackenzie Fraser, 7, of Arthur: 1st Beg Best Appearing, 2nd Sp Beg Solo and Sp Beg Basic March and 3rd Basic Skills Pageant;
– Alyssa George, 11, of Fergus: 1st Novice XStrut and Beg Solo, 2nd Beg Best Appearing and 3rd Beg 2Baton;
– Hayleigh Homer, 11, of Fergus: 1st Novice Solo, Beginner Modeling, Beginner Basic March and Beg Best Appearing and won the 9-11 Basic Skills pageant;
– Skylar Irwin, 12, of Arthur: 1st Novice Solo, 6th Beginner Best Appearing;
– Melissa Ireland, 12, of Arthur: 2nd in Sp Beg Solo;
– Audra Jander, 15, of Acton: 4th in Freestyle;
– Paige Johnston, 7, of Arthur: 1st Novice Solo and won the 0-8 Basic Skills pageant;
– Shayla Logel, 9, of Elora: 1st Sp Beginner Solo, 2nd Sp Beg Solo, 7th Beg Best Appearing and 3rd 9-11 Basic Skills Pageant;
– Chelsea McFadden, 7, of Fergus: 3rd Sp Beginner Solo;
– Jaime Murphy, 8, of Fergus: 1st Sp Beg Solo;
– Elsie Post, 9, of Arthur: 2nd Beg XStrut and Beg 2Baton, 3rd Beg Solo and 5th Beg Bes Appearing;
– Lauren Robb, 14, of Fergus: 1st in Beg X-Strut, Beg Best Appearing, Beginner 2Baton and Beginner Solo;
– Madeline Schindler, 10, of Belwood: 2nd freestyle and Sp Beg Basic March, 3rd Sp Beginner Solo and 4th Beg Best Appearing;
– Kaitlyn Wagg, 12, of Arthur: 1st Sp Beg Solo;
– Jadyn Worton, 6, of Fergus: 1st Sp Beg Basic March;
– Makenzie Worton, 12, of Fergus: 1st Beg Strut, 2nd Beginner Solo, Beg Best Appearing and Beg 2baton; and
– the duet team of Irwin and Homer placed 1st.
The twirlers are trained by Krista DiStasi of Fergus.
Anyone interested in seeing the Superstars perform, is encouraged to attend the club’s Year End Showcase on May 25 at 2pm at Arthur Public School.
