Swap seeds at Erin”™s Seedy Saturday

The Erin seed lending library has opened for 2018 and will kick off the season with a Seedy Saturday on April 7.

Located within the Erin book library at Centre 2000, is a box of seed packages hoping to be checked out.

“My goal with the seed library is to get more people to grow some food for themselves,” said organizer Jen Edwards.

“Try something new, grow something with your kids, get your hands in the dirt.”

Sign out seeds, grow  them, then in the fall, bring some seeds back to the library from what you grew or from something else.

“Seeds are very easy to find if you look for them. They are inside the fruit, or under the spent flower head,” said Edwards.

Erin is holding a Seedy Saturday on April 7 from 11am to 3pm at the Erin United Church.

The event will have vendors selling seeds, seedlings, garden related products and maple syrup. There will also be education materials for adults and crafts for the kids.

The seed library will be there and also a seed exchange table where you can bring the seeds you don’t need to swap them for some you do. Entrance and parking are free.
