Suzuki String School presents its annual concert Peace and Joy

On Dec. 5 at 3pm, 185 students from Suzuki String School of Guelph will be performing on stage at the River Run Centre.

This year, the concert, entitled Peace and Joy, is a multi-cultural program of music from around the world. The school’s students, ages 3 to 18, will perform classical as well as folk music that will include the traditions of many different cultures such as China, Hungary, Poland, Italy, France, Germany, and more. Guest students from the International Language Program, and the Guelph Chinese Choir will join troupe for this celebration of friendship and peace.

The Suzuki String School’s annual Snowflake concert is a celebration of the winter through a themed musical event that never fails to attract a full house. Each year has a different theme that aims to celebrate music, peace and joy.

The concert will also include a special demonstration by the school’s fall violin and cello beginners, ages 3 to 6 years old.

The concert will be followed by the sharing of light refreshments.

Over the past 37 years the Suzuki String School of Guelph has organized activities, collaborated with a wide variety of arts groups and performed at countless community events to meet its goals to advance the art of music, build community, provide accessibility to music education to all members of the community to create the next generation of positive community members and leaders, and strengthen culture and civil society.

Suzuki String School of Guelph is a registered non-profit charitable organization founded in 1972 for the purpose of teaching violin, viola and cello according to the Suzuki philosophy of teaching. It is recognized both nationally and internationally as one of the major centers for the Suzuki Method® of teaching in North-America. It currently has a faculty of ten highly-qualified and experienced teachers, including 3 approved Suzuki teacher trainers, working with students, ages 3 to 18. 

Most of the school’s lessons and activities take place at the Guelph Youth Music Centre, 75 Cardigan Street, Guelph. The SSSG also offers violin lessons in Cambridge. Lessons are available in English and French.
