Suspicious vehicle from bank robbery now found

Police here have recovered a vehicle that might have been used in a bank robbery in Drayton March 2.

OPP Constable Cheri Rockefeller reported the vehicle of interest to police, a newer model Mazda SUV, had been previously reported as stolen.

Police have now recovered it. The driver of that vehicle was described by police as a female, tanned with white skin with dark, shoulder length hair and in her 20s. The bank robber was described as a male, about 5-feet, 8 inches tall, with a thin build, and wearing a black and dark green spring coat, black touque, and blue sport pants.

The Royal Bank of Canada located on Main Street East in Drayton was the victim. A lone male suspect entered the bank and demanded cash from an employee while brandishing a handgun. He assaulted the female employee prior to fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police provided no other details about the recovery of the vehicle. Rockefeller said the investigation is still ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
