A carbon monoxide leak at a business here sent six people to hospital last week.

On Dec. 18 at about 7:23am Wellington County OPP officers received a call regarding a possible carbon monoxide leak at Con Cast Pipe, an industrial business located on Brock Road in Puslinch Township.

OPP attended along with Guelph-Wellington Emergency Services (EMS) and Puslinch Fire and Rescue Services.

Six people were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment; one who was semi-conscious and five who had “minor symptoms,” police say.

The victims, it was later confirmed, were all exposed to elevated levels of carbon monoxide. They were released from hospital that day.

The Ministry of Labour was  notified and attended. The plant was temporarily evacuated but by the end of the day the majority of the plant had resumed regular operation.
